Philip Charles Thurlow Crick was the Anglican Bishop of Rockhampton〔(Anglican archives )〕 in Australia from 1921 until 1927〔(Diocesan history )〕 and the Bishop of Ballarat until 1935. Crick was born into a clerical family〔His father was The ''Rev Philip Crick'', sometime Rector of Waresley; and his brother The Rt Rev Douglas Crick, Bishop of Stafford then Chester>“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 on 18 November 1882 and educated at Winchester and Pembroke College, Cambridge. His first ministry position was as a curate at St Mary's Barnsley after which he was appointed Fellow〔The Times, Monday, Nov 05, 1906; pg. 7; Issue 38169; col D ''University Intelligence. Cambridge'', Nov. 3〕 and then Dean of Clare College, Cambridge. After wartime service as a chaplain in the Forces he returned to Cambridge where he remained until his appointment to the episcopate.〔''Two New Bishops.
